West and East Europe in global High Added Value Manufacturing


Prof. Dr. Ömer Anlağan obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc degrees in the Mechanical Engineering Department of Middle East Technical University in 1967 and 1970 respectively and received his Ph.D. degree  in the Machine Tool Technology Division of UMIST/England in 1975. He worked in Mech. Eng. Dept. of METU between 1975-1982 as Assistant Professor and Associate Professor; taught Manufacturing Engineering and Metal Cutting courses as a visiting Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department of University of Wisconsin/Madison/USA between 1982 and 1984; worked in Richland Industries/Wisconsin/USA as a consultant and helped the company to modernize their manufacturing facilities between 1984 and 1986; returned to Turkey in 1986 and worked in Emek Holding A.Ş. as the Director of R&D;  was appointed as the Director of Computer Center of METU for years 1988 and 1993; has worked as a full Professor in Mech. Eng. Dept. of METU between 1989 and 2001; has appointed as the Director of SAGE (Defense Industry Research and Development Institute) between 1995 and 2004, he has been working as the Vice President of TUBITAK since 2004. His academic interest covers the areas of manufacturing processes, CAD/CAM, CIM and tribology. Prof. Anlağan is married, has a daughter.

Mr von Bose completed his studies in law from the Universities of Bonn, Geneva and Heidelberg in 1975. He was an assistant at the law faculty of the University of Montpellier before joining the German Ministry of Justice in 1976. From 1979 to 1983, he practices as a lawyer in Manheim and Heidelberg. In 1983, he started working for the European Commission in Brussels. In 1996, Mr von Bose became the Head of Unit for Aeronautics, Space, Rail and Maritime. From 2004 to 2007, he was the Head of Unit for "Security Research and Development”. In September 2007, he became Director for "Industrial Technologies" in DG Research.

Mr. Filip Geerts is Director General of CECIMO, the European Association of the Machine Tool Industries, he is a professional in international, EU and national public and regulatory affairs. Mr. Geerts is specialized in the management of corporate and governmental affairs departments of companies, national and EU trade associations and non-profit organizations. He was deputy-director for the largest Belgian association for the technological industry, public and regulatory affairs manager for IBM Europe, Middle East and Africa and secretary general for numerous European trade associations in e.g. the ICT, the electro-medical, lighting and environmental sector. He has degrees from Insead Fontainebleau and Singapore, London School of Economics, Vlerick, College of Europe, The Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve and the Catholic University of Leuven in commercial engineering.

Milan Gregor, prof.Ing.PhD., born 1955, he is Chairman of the Central European Institute of Technology (CEIT). He is professor at the University of Zilina (Slovakia) and the University of Bielsko Biala (Poland). He did research and worked as a lecturer at prestigious European universities (TU Vienna, ETH Zurich, University of Saarbruecken, and Nottingham Trent University). He worked as UNIDO expert for productivity and chairman of the National Productivity Center in Slovakia and board member of the European Association of National Productivity Center (EANPC). He has a long term co-operation in research with industry. Dr. Gregor is member of several professional and academic institutions as for example: Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE), EEF, SLCP, SASI, C&SSS, ASIM, etc.  He is the member of ManuFuture Mirror Group and the Chairman of the HLG ManuFuture SK. His academic interest covers the areas of Operation Management, Simulation, Productivity, Digital Factory and Intelligent Manufacturing.

Dr. İmer has received her Ph.D. from University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) Materials Department. She also holds M.A. degree on Business Economics from UCSB. She has many highly cited papers and 2 patents on nanotechnology.  Dr. İmer has worked in Academia and Industry in Turkey and involved in many EU meetings and projects.

Professor, Politecnico di Milano. Author of 250 papers, recipient of SME Sargent Progress Award, Honorary Fellow and former President of CIRP Academy. Initiator of Manufuture Initiative, Vice-president of European and Italian Manufuture Platforms, Honorary member of EFFRA Board of Directors. Italian representative within several European Framework Programme Committees. Italy HLR within Eureka. Co-founder of EurekaFamos and Factory Umbrella Projects, promoter of Eureka "Manufuture Industry” Cluster.

Professor Barbara Kudrycka was born in 1956 in Kolno. She is a Professor of the Administrative Law and Public Administration Science (2003). In 1978 she graduated in Law from the University of Warsaw. In 1985 she obtained a Doctoral Degree in Law and in 1995 became assistant professor at the Department of Law and Administration at University of Warsaw. From March 1998 through August 2007, for three consecutive terms, she was the Chancellor of Białystok School of Public Administration. Currently she is the President of BSPA.
Since October 2003 she is Chair in Administrative Law at The Law Department at the University of Białystok. From 2004 through 2007 she was a Member of European Parliament. She sat on the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs as well as she was a member of the Delegation for relations with Belarus. Professor Barbara Kudrycka is a member of Transparency International Polska and Amnesty International.

Mr. Dalibor Marijanović is general manager of Business Innovation Center of Croatia (BICRO) responsible for the day-to-day management and organization programs and activities. He has been actively involved in preparation of strategic documents regarding the usage of EU Structural Funds (Member of the National Strategic Reference Framework working group; Member of the Regional Competitiveness Operational Program working group) – responsible for creation and implementation of Technology and Innovation Strategy and Programs.
Prior to taking executive position he was director of collaborative R&D grant scheme in BICRO since 2005. Before work within BICRO, he was designing, developing and implementing IT solutions for 7 years in public and private, big and small institutions.

In 1968 he received his Doctorate Degree in Nuclear Engineering at the Polytechnics of Turin. Since 1969 active in the Machine Tool Business (Morando, Graziano, Comau),  in 1988 was appointed Comau Group VP Engineering (CTO), responsible of Comau Product Development. In 1999, after the acquisition of Pico in US and Renault Automation in France, he was appointed Comau Executive VP for Marketing and Business Development, moving to Southfield – MI, USA. From 2002 he has been Comau Group Senior Corporate VP for Strategic Planning and Advanced Engineering, in Turin - Italy.
In July 2005 he was appointed Chief Operating Officer of the Comau Powertrain Systems Business Unit. From beginning of 2009 he is involved in Comau "New” Business Development and in promoting Comau R&D and Innovation projects.

Dr. A.Meder obtained his M.Sc degree in the Department of Mechanical and Technological Engineering in 1974 and received his Ph.D degree in the Silesian Technical University/ Gliwice/Poland in 1983. From 1974 to 1984 he worked in the Institute of Mechanics and Machine Design of Silesian Technical University. In 1985 he started working for " Zabrze-Bielszowice Coal Mine”/Poland. From 1998 to 2008 Dr. Meder was the Director of Mining Mechanization Centre KOMAG/Gliwice/Poland. In 2009 he was appointed as The Chairman of the Board and CEO of ZZM S.A.-Kopex Group.

Prof. Kleiber is member of the Academy of Sciences, President of the PAN in the years 2007 - 2010, re-elected for the term 2011-2014.
Prof. Kleiber is a specialist in the field of engineering and computer science. The main theme of his research and teaching are the application of modern computer techniques in scientific research, technology and medicine - in particular for modeling, analysis, simulation and visualization of complex nonlinear phenomena Thermomechanics. In recent years, also deals with issues of pro-development policy, development strategy and in particular education, science and innovation in the economy.

Professor Sergey V. Serebriannikov is the Rector of Moscow Power Engineering Institute, one of the largest universities in Russia. The focus of the Institute is the area of energetics, electrotechnics, electronics as well as ICT. The Institute trains engineers and researchers for foreign countries since 1946. Up to now the institute has trained 28 000 students from 68 countries.

S. Sydorenko was born in Donetsk, Ukraine. In 1965 he entered to the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys under specialty "Physics of Metals”. In 1972-1974 he was a postgraduate student of NTUU "KPI”. The highest degree – Doctor of Science he obtained in 1987. Since 1991 he has been working as a Head of Metals Physics Department of NTUU "KPI”. In 1995-1999 S. Sydorenko was the Head of the Central Science Department of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine. From 2006 – Corresponding member of the National Academy of Science of Ukraine.

Engelbert Westkämper, born 1946, Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Prof. E.h. Dr.-Ing. E.h. Dr. h.c. mult. Since 1995 he is Head of the Institute of Industrial Engineering and Management (IFF) at the University Stuttgart, Germany, Director of the Fraunhofer-Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA in Stuttgart as well as CEO of the Graduate School of Excellence advanced Manufacturing Engineering in Stuttgart. Westkämper is a member of several academic and industrial oriented communities as for example CIRP, DFG, VDI, DGQ, FQS, and ManuFuture. He is a member of the Manufuture High Level Group and the Manufuture Implementation Support Group. He is honorary member of the EFFRA Board, Vice president of the Eureka Cluster Manufuture Industry and Vice director of ManuFuture Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany.

Rector of Wroclaw University of Technology. He specializes in the field of electromagnetic compatibility of device, systems and installations, in particular the intersystem compatibility of radio communication and telecommunication installations. He is the author of over 175 scientific publications, 6 patents and patent issues, and over 600 elaborations on economy. With the support of his colleagues he initiated, created and promoted the world class Electromagnetic Laboratory of Compatibility. One of his greatest success is the creation of the Knowledge and Innovation Community for Information and Communication Technologies, and The Academic Incubator of Entrepreneurship at Wrocław University of Technology. He comes from Lwówek Śląski, he is married and has 2 adult children.
